You need not look far these days to see that our w

You need not look far these days to see that our world is in desperate need of compassion.

We seem to exist in an era where maintaining one's hard-won place on the social or economic spectrum is top priority, and any threat to that "lofty" status is to be dealt with swiftly and thoroughly.

We tend to prefer other "com" words such as "comfort", "compensation" or even "combativeness" or "complaining".

It's very unlike our human nature to take less than we can or even more so, to give to someone who we feel doesn't deserve.
The world needs more compassion.
But what kind of compassion?
What does true compassion even look like?

Let's look to Christ for whom compassion was a capital "C".

How did Jesus model showing Compassion for those who were truly unworthy?

He took off his suit, loosened his tie.

Removed his blazer, his dress shirt and dress pants.

He put on sweat pants and a weathered t-shirt.

Our Saviour, the King of whom all kings will answer to one day; A king who deserves a crown more costly than the world could produce; a king to whom the angels sing in eternal chorus, wrapped a towel around his waist, and picked up the basin and the towel.

He got on his knees and washed the feet of sinful men, men desperate to be cleansed.

Because of Compassion.

This simple gesture of love would ultimately lead to the greatest act of Compassion in the history of the universe on good Friday on a hill called Golgotha.
