CAUSES WE SUPPORT:
If you are looking for opportunities to serve your neighbours in Hamilton, here are some organizations that provide Christian charity in our city. Many of these are not affiliated with Mercy Christian Church but are supported by many volunteers in our community.
If you’re a member of an organization that would like to be listed on this page, please let us know.
If you wish to donate to the operating budget of Mercy Church please send donations to treasury@mercychurch.ca

Campfire! is like no other camp in the province of Ontario. The Saugeen River flows through the 165-acre property, which is also blessed with rolling hills, open meadows, towering conifers, scenic ponds for paddling and swimming, and trails for hiking and skiing.
These beautiful surroundings enhance a camp that aims to combine fun and exciting summer experience with discovery and growth in the love of Jesus Christ.
Christians Against Poverty (CAP) opened their Canadian office in March 2013 in response to numerous Canadian church leaders who have seen the need for debt counselling in their cities.
Since launching, they have partnered with over 120 churches to bring our financial education course and debt counselling service to local communities across Canada.
In 2016 they launched their Job Clubs and Release Groups programs to complement their debt counselling services and to tackle the root causes of poverty.

The format is relaxed with refreshments and a time to socialize and get to know each other. Bibles and study books are provided free of charge.
The group meets Tuesday mornings from 9:30 – 11:00 at Cornerstone Church, 353 Stonechurch Rd. Appropriate child care and transportation are available.
To register or for more information e-mail bible.discovery.group@ gmail.com. For up-to-date information check out their Facebook page titled Community Bible Discovery Group.

They accomplish this by partnering with Christian school associations and mission organizations in developing countries to impact:

- Teachers: Training workshops pass on effective teaching methods and how to integrate a Biblical worldview into the classroom.
- Schools: Volunteer HANDS teams help with school construction projects.

An excellent volunteer opportunity at the house is to prepare an evening meal at home or at Micah House to enjoy with the guests.

They offer a weekly food and clothing bank, annual free tax clinics, winter clothing drives, prom clothing for teens in need, Christmas aid (food and gifts) for working poor families, and more.

They do this by providing professional and caring service in the following areas: The Good Food Centre (food bank & community kitchen), The 196 (afterschool program), Willow’s Place (safe space for women), Inasmuch House (Violence Against Women shelter), Men’s Shelter, Suntrac Addiction Services, and Alternative Justice.

Neighbour 2 Neighbour helps people struggling through difficult times in their lives. As a local food bank, their work is a great way to fight against poverty and show Christian charity to the needs of our community.

Streetlight is located in downtown Hamilton in the Beasley neighbourhood. This ministry has youth and adult Bible study programs during the week and two worship services every Sunday. This ministry also offers a variety of kids programs, an adult life skills course and other programs where they look for ways to serve each other through personal relationships.
This ministry started in the 1990’s with the help of some members in the Hamilton area Canadian Reformed Churches, of which Streetlight is also a member.
